Despite some manufacturers claiming it was not possible to make, the distinctive upstand at the back of the basin reduces the need for silicon sealing along the notorious back edge junction with the wall. Each of the two horizontal surfaces that provide the user with a surface to place personal items, slopes gently towards the bowl to stop water settling. The basin is currently being installed in BAA washrooms across London Gatwick and Stansted.
