strategy of innovation

Intellectual property is variously defined as: ‘the intangible property that is the result of creativity‘ or ‘the legal property rights over creations of the mind’. The mind boggles… In the product world, there are a couple of ways to protect these rights depending on whether the ‘creation of the mind’ is aesthetic or functional. While these may be effective deterrents, obtaining and defending a patent is costly and the process of litigation can be a bit of a lottery.  So the best way to stay ahead of the competition is to continually innovate, to stay one step ahead, not one step behind.

design right, design registration and patents

Design is all about the way an object looks: its shape, its visual appeal…it’s all in the design. Patents protect the features and processes that make things work. This lets inventors profit from their inventions.
