different tools for different jobs

Research, brand immersion, idea generation, concept development, design refinement, technical specification and implementation (roughly in that order…).

During the process we use different techniques : we sketch, doodle, draw, use CAD to render, visualise and animate. And make models too (see below). All of these tools are used to communicate the design to either the client, the customer or the company who are going to make it. Each require a different level of refinement and complexity in the data we supply.

the scale of the problem

Sketch models come in all shapes and sizes, fashioned from foam, card, mdf, bits of old newspaper, sometimes anything that isn’t bolted down in the workshop. They provide an invaluable early guide to the scale, ergonomics and general form of the design concept whether this is a hand held product or an airline seat.

DBA Design Effectiveness Award WINNERS……!

Already an award winner, our Superlight aircraft seat for Acro Aero, has now won a DBA Design Effectiveness Award, revealing that the seat is not only great for passengers, but from a airline point of view, the design is… er… effective. We are a little over-excited..!
